Do you have some Shropshire mysteries in your family histories? Perhaps the Shropshire Family History Society (SFHS) can help you find the answer!
The society was founded 40 years ago with the aim of helping people investigate their Shropshire Ancestry and to help make records more accessible to anyone interested in a better understanding of their Shropshire ancestors.
The society organises monthly meetings (except for July and August) where it is possible to access their library and bookstall. It also publishes a quarterly journal that is distributed to members. The meetings always include a talk on a family or social history related topic and provide an opportunity to meet members of the society who have a wealth of experience in family history research generally and specifically in all aspects of family history as relevant to Shropshire.
The society also has a team that take part in a wide variety of Fairs throughout the year to share their experience and runs the Shropshire FHS fair in early June each year which has a good variety of trade, family history society and two guest speakers.
You can meet SFHS at THE Genealogy Show. Visit their stand to see if their team can help you overcome the obstacles that are currently blocking progress in your family history research. You can also find out a bit more about the activities the society holds, how you could join and perhaps even play a part in ensuring that future family historians can continue to get the help they need to overcome their own research problems!
