THE Show is in less than a few weeks and there has been lots of printing, checking and also t-shirt making! (Which you will soon see at THE Show.)
In today’s blog – we’re going introducing you to Local Community History Month – ready to get you in the mood for THE Show!
What is Local Community History Month?
Introduced by The Historical Association, every May their main mission is to have a month where people are encouraged to research, read, share information, educate and raise awareness about the history of their communities and local areas across the UK.
The local history of the NEC
The NEC was first opened officially by HM The Queen in 1976! Since then, many halls, communal areas, restaurants, and amenities have opened, expanding exhibition space giving you the NEC you see today! For a more in-depth history of the NEC, read here.
There will be various family history societies attending the two-day event, each one specialising in their own local history. You can have a look at our exhibitors on our website and here , you will find a clickable link to enable you to read up on their history on their own websites.
In the meantime, tell us what local history is important to you?
